On Thursday, a billionaire and an engineer were the two astronauts who made history by completing the first-ever private spacewalk. Both, of course, wearing proper new generation spacesuits, they ventured outside a SpaceX capsule in a mission that until now had been exclusive to national space programs. As part of the Polaris Dawn mission, each astronaut spent around 10 minutes tethered to the Crew Dragon capsule, highlighting SpaceX’s ongoing innovations in commercial space exploration.

The 41 year old billionaire Jared Isaacman and SpaceX engineer Sarah Gillis, 30, while tethered took the risky leap making history in the category. Accompanying Isaacman on the mission are pilot Scott Poteet, 50, a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel, along with SpaceX senior engineers Sarah Gillis, 30, and Anna Menon, 38.
